Late Anne hogan
The whole community of Ballingarry and district were deeply saddened when they learned of the death at her residence on Sunday, 22nd February of Anne Hogan (nee Gleeson), Glenview, Ballingarry, Roscrea after an illness.
Anne was a science teacher in Borrisokane Community College and was also a past pupil of the school. She was a most caring and thoughtful person and a great neighbour. She was held in very high regard within her profession and also by everybody that knew her.
She was a very active member of the local community being a member of the Ballingarry Pike Church choir and also Borrisokane Gospel choir. To her husband Seamus, daughters Cóire and Aine, son Diarmuid, mother Peg, sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law,
nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, relatives and friends sincere sympathy is tendered.
After reposing at her residence on Monday, remains were removed to The Pike Church, Ballingarry, on Tuesday morning and after Funeral Mass burial took place in S.S. Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Borrisokane.

MONSTER AUCTION
Bernie Reddan, Candidate for Mayor of Borrisokane, will be holding a Monster Auction at The Fairgreen, Borrisokane on Sunday next 28th February starting at 2.00 p.m. There will be a huge variety of goods
on offer including numerous loads of high quality timber and turf. With the hard weather, these great lots of firing could not have appeared on the market at a better time. There will also be a large number of Fodder Lots including Round Bales of Silage, Round Bales of
Hay, Square Bales of Hay, and the very best of Turnips and Fodder Beet. On top of all this, there will be many Round Bales of top class golden barley Straw and bags of meal. For the home-maker, there will be Lots of superior quality potatoes and a wide range of home-baking. There will also be second-hand books, household items and a Celtic Tiger to entertain the kids together with many other miscellaneous Lots. Make sure to be there in

BRIDGE RESULTS
The annual singles competition (Johnny Cowan’s prize) was played for last week and the winners were: 1st. Maura Killackey, 2nd Iris Dennison, 3rd Sheila Darcy.
ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE MEETING
There will be a meeting of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee on Friday, 26th February in The Yanks at 9.00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
Fundraiser
Ardcroney FC are holding a Poker Classic on Friday February 26th in The Yanks Bar Borrisokane. Registration 9 p.m, €30 entry per person. Prize money of €1200 or pro rata. Join in and you could be in for a win.
Double Winner
Congratulations is extended to Sabrina Larkin who along with her UL camogie team mates won the Ashbourne Colleges shield final on Sunday last. UL came away with victory over CIT on a score line of 1.10 to 1.4. Sabrina who plays her camogie with Shannon Rovers was also named an Ashbourne All Star for her performance’s with UL in this competition. Well done Sabrina on both accounts.
Registration Night
Borrisokane GAA Club are holding their annual Registration night in the yanks next Saturday night 27th at 8 p.m. We are delighted to have current Tipperary Boss Liam Sheedy as our guest speaker for the night. Membership for the year will be taken on the night and new
members would be especially welcome. Remember that membership for the year ensures that you are first in line for tickets for Tipperary Championship games. Adult membership is €20 and membership for players is €50 which will include a Borrisokane Jacket. This offer is
also open to ordinary members as well. Student membership is €10. Refreshments will served on the night.
CHURCH GATE COLLECTION
The local branch of the IHCPT (The Irish Pilgrimage Trust) are holding their annual Church Gate collection this weekend 27th and 28th February at all masses in Borrisokane. This is the 25th year of the local branch which takes young people with social/physical
disabilities to Lourdes each Easter for a week long pilgrimage/holiday. For more information if you are willing to help please contact Michael Carroll.
Darragh McKenna for Lord Mayor
Darragh McKenna’s campaign continues to proceed in a manner that is to be commended by any candidate for the position of Lord Mayor – the final election night to be held on Saturday, 13th March. Darragh has recently had fundraising nights including: Table Quiz held in Hough’s, Aglish on 6th February. A great crowd turned up to
support the campaign including local TD, Maura Hoctor, who generously made a presentation to Darragh. The winners on the night were Gay Hackett and his team with Maura Hoctor and Jim Casey coming second (see picture).
A Poker Classic was held in the Yanks on 21st February which was an outstanding success and also the Bingo Night held in The Tavern, Ballinderry proved to be a fantastic night. Darragh says thanks to all who supported the above events and who helped out in any way.
There are a few major events to come as yet, which include: Cheltenham Preview Night which will include an Auction in The Yanks, Borrisokane on Thursday, 4th March. There will be many guests appearing e.g. Andrew McNamara, Eddie O’Grady, Charlie Swan to name
just three and auction items include a signed Munster jersey, signed Irish Soccer jersey, signed Tipperary jersey, signed Tipperary hurley, paintings and many more items. A night not to be missed.
Traditional Irish music night to be held in The Yanks on Saturday, 6th March. There will be many local artists attending this function and there will be some famous surprises.
Darragh would like to thank all those who have been supporting him over the previous weeks and looks forward to continuous support from both local residents and the surrounding areas.
PRESENTATION NIGHT
Borrisokane Juvenile GAA Club held its presentation night last week in The Yanks. Medals were presented to the under 12 team that won the North ‘C’ football and the under 14 hurling team that won the North and county finals. Local man, Philip Austin, member of the Tipperary
county football team presented the football medals while Paddy Stapleton, Tipperary senior hurler, presented the hurling medals.
