Borrisokane Community College
Open Night: This will take place on Tuesday 2nd February. Parents of students in 5th or 6th class in National school are invited to visit Borrisokane Community College for a talk by Principal Matthew Carr and a tour of the college. The talk will take place at 7.30 p.m. and
the guided tour will take place immediately afterwards.
Junior Hurling: This year’s campaign came to a decisive end on Friday last when the reigning All-Ireland Junior Champions, Causeway Comprehensive School, proved too strong for Borrisokane.


Debating: Our Senior Team debated the motion “Ireland is still the best country to live in” with Roscrea on Monday last. Borrisokane opposed the motion and were successful in their arguments. The team has now reached the final of the Cultural Day Debating Competition. Team: Joseph Mulcahy, Rebecca Torpey, Brian Davis and Edel Clarke.


Basketball: Borrisokane Community College 1st Year girls Basketball team was defeated 25-18 by Our Lady’s Templemore last week. Many of the Borrisokane players can be very happy with their displays and all look forward to the upcoming matches with confidence.


Staff Meeting: A Staff Meeting will take place on Thursday 28th January at 1:30pm. Classes will end at 12:55pm. Rainbows Programme: We are hoping to run the “Rainbows” Programme in the school starting Mid-February 2010. Rainbows is a peer –support
programme to assist children and adolescents who are grieving a death, separation or other painful transitions in their family. If you are interested please contact Breda Lillis Deane (Programme Co-ordinator at 067-27268 during the school day.


Parent Support Group Meeting: Due to the bad weather conditions in January we decided to re-commence our Parent Support Group meetings
in February. Our next meeting will take place on Thursday 11th of February @ 7.30 p.m .at Borrisokane Community College. Any queries please contact Sinead at 067-27268.


Night Classes: Places are available in the following: Adult Education Courses; Internet and E-mail; Absolute Beginners Computers; Organic and Poly tunnel Gardening; Basic First Aid; Meditation and Conversational Irish. If interested in any of the above contact Sinead at 067-27268.

JUNIOR ‘C’ PRESENTATION NIGHT
The presentation to the Borrisokane Junior C team who won the North Hurling Final will take place this Friday night 29th January in the Yanks at 9.00 p.m.

Borrisokane and District Vintage club Fun day
Borrisokane and District Vintage Club are holding their 4th Annual Threshing, Fun Day and Vintage Display in Borrisokane on Sunday, September 12th. The entertainment for the day will include some of
your favourites from last year. There will also be a display of vintage tractors, cars and all sorts of bits and pieces for all the vintage enthusiasts, along with a demonstration of the Threshing Machine.
This event has been hugely successful over the past three years and is proving to be great family day out. More details next week. The organising committee meet on Tuesday night in the Snooker Hall, Borrisokane at 9 p.m. and anybody interested in helping out on the
day are invited to come along.
