Peadar, as he was affectionately known, was a most popular member of the local farming community and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. In his young days he was a most talented and skillful hurler representing Knockshegowna as a fifteen year old when he played minor with a Lorrha/Knockshe combination in the 1960 championship. Paedars first success at hurling came in 1965 when he was a member of the Lorrha/Knockshegowna combination which won the North Tipperary U/21 hurling championship. In the same year Pat played at corner back on the Knockshe intermediate team, which were beaten by Newport in the North final. In 1966 he won North and County under 21 medals and in the same year he played at corner back on the Tipperary junior team which defeated Dublin in the All Ireland final and in 1971 he won another All Ireland junior medal. Remains were removed on Sunday evening from St. Joseph’s Funeral Home, Borrisokane to St. Patrick’s Church, The Pike, Ballingarry and after Funeral Mass on Monday burial took place in Ballingarry cemetery. The huge crowd which were present at both the removal and burial bore testimony to his popularity. To his wife Maura, children Sinead, Michael and Maria, mother Julia, sisters Mary (Sheridan), Helen (Treacy) and Susan (Hogan), son-in-law Alan, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and a large circle of friends sincere sympathy is tendered.
